On the Run
Stardate: 2.24.2010 Marathon Days to Go: 54
Training update: 2.5 miles on the treadmill at 4:15 a.m. Treadmill says this is worth 410 calories. Sounds like calorie inflation but I’ll take it because I need to burn off that super-size 99 Burger I ate last night.
Marathon training overview: some of you know that I have been stuck at 12.25 miles for my long run for a while now. This was okay four or five weeks back when the memory of a couple of bouts with dehydration and hypothermia was still strong, and snow lay thick around us, and we still had three months of marathon training ahead.
Less okay now. Sunday night I made a new plan: start training the marathon route on weekends. Ramp up long run by two miles a week. Increase conditioning. Continue to wear lucky hat.
Good book just finished: OPEN by Andre Agassi. Inspirational and more than a few parallels between his training and mine (burgers, burnouts and lapses, followed by renewed commitment and focused training!)
